Distance learning requires a shift in thinking about how we communicate, instruct, and design lessons and assignments to ensure students continue to collaborate and communicate with one another. This shift is necessary not only for our teachers to make, but for our students and families as well to optimize learning.
What if my student does not have a tablet or laptop to work from?
Thanks to a generous School Partnership Grant for technology from the Fulcrum Foundation, St. Michael school is able to provide 1:1 technology for every student K-8. If your student is in need of a device, you may contact the school office and check a device out for home use.
How do I make sure my student is getting their work done?
Our teachers will be in touch regularly with updates and progress reports, just as they were when class was being held at school. In some cases graded papers are being returned via file folders which are available in front of the school on a weekly basis. In others, grades are being sent via online platforms (ie. spelling city or mathletics). We encourage you to have open dialogue with your student about what is working or not working for them as they develop a new routine for their school day. We also encourage you to contact your teacher with any concerns or questions. Your teacher's email can be located here: /staff
